Bankshall Court
The Bankshall Court Complex comprises three distinct buildings, two of which are historical structures with heritage significance. Between these, a modern multi-storied building, known as Bichar Bhawan, was later constructed. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, and 15 Metropolitan Magistrate Courts operate within the two heritage buildings located at 2 & 3 Bankshall Street, Calcutta. Additionally, the Chief Judge of the City Sessions Court, the Sessions Judge handling NDPS Act cases, the Special CBI Court, and nine Fast Track Courts are also housed in this location. The original Bankshall Court buildings were inaugurated in 1915. The Fast Track Courts began their operations at Bichar Bhawan on March 15, 2003. Following the division of the City Civil & Sessions Court, the City Sessions Court commenced its proceedings at Bichar Bhawan on August 11, 2005.
